The Gospels of the New Testament have a single Easter message for Christians: Christ died and he rose from the dead.
The actual descriptions of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, however, vary from Gospel to Gospel.
Depending on who is telling the story -- Matthew, Mark, Luke or John -- a Scripture reader will find several different accounts of the discovery of the empty tomb and the subsequent appearances of Christ.
Scholars agree that Mark's account of the Resurrection, which left much of the story a mystery, grew and became more elaborate as the books of Matthew, Luke and John were written.
