Don't call Don Evans a doom-and-gloomer. True, he is chief trading strategist for FX 500 Ltd. in Virginia Beach, Va., a firm that has successfully made money shorting S&P 500 futures for the past five years, but he is quick to note his experience as a market-timing trader working from the long side in equities stretches back to the early 1970s.
