W ASHINGTON - Next week's Inaugural will spark numerous comparisons between Bill Clinton and the last 40ish Democrat to enter the White House, John F. Kennedy.
What separates the two new presidencies could prove as powerful as their similarities.
Kennedy took the oath Jan. 20, 1961, knowing precisely how far American voters were willing to trust their new and inexperienced President: 0.1 percent.
For those unfamiliar with the 1960 election returns, that was the difference in popular vote between the Democratic and Republican candidates. Kennedy had gotten 49.7 percent. Nixon got 49.6 percent.
