ALBANY A new method of testing AIDS drugs that will make medications available for clinical trials more quickly was announced at Albany Medical Center Thursday, in commemoration of World AIDS Day.
The new method tests medicines in a ``hollow fiber'' system that simulates human tissue. By injecting the simulated cells with the HIV virus and drugs expected to treat it, researchers can predict the effectiveness of the treatment and determine the optimal dose for clinical trials.
