Talk pecan pie with Edgar Rose and chances are he'll have you gladly taking on the tedious task of hand-cutting the best pecan halves you can find, one by one, once down and twice across, convinced that this is the only way to make a respectable pie.
Rose, a retired engineer, has made a hobby of sorts out of pecan pie, baking it, serving it, discussing it, researching it and, most important, appreciating every last crumb of it.
``Oh, yes, I think it's a wonderful pie,'' he says.
