A physician from Albany Medical Center went to Russia to adopt a son and ended up adopting both the child and a cause the uphill battle to alleviate the suffering from the nuclear catastrophe known as Chernobyl.
Dr. James Figge, associate professor of medicine in the division of endocrinology, is collaborating with Russian physicians in a campaign to understand and hopefully cure an increasing number of thyroid cancer sufferers emerging in the region.
