Kurt Russell thinks he's had a richly varied career, and why not?

After all, his first major movie role was as an obnoxious kid who kicks Elvis Presley in 1963's ``It Happened at the World's Fair.'' He then went on to play the King in the 1979 TV movie ``Elvis.''

He spent his adolescence growing up on screen in a string of Disney features, then skewered his wholesome image with a trio of rugged roles in ``Escape From New York,'' ``The Thing'' and ``Big Trouble in Little China.''
