``Every time I design I product I end up with a sample,'' says Jan Axel, a ceramist and designer of products that range from bathroom fixtures to china sets. Axel and her husband, Bob, also are incurable collectors.
Inevitably, there was an overflow of goods in their house in South Salem, N.Y. The solution was to hold a tag sale.
The advantages of tag sales (or yard, garage or patio sales, as they are variously called) are clearing out unneeded items and making a bit of money at the same time.
