The Baseball Network? Most people think it's ESPN.
The Baseball Network actually is two networks, NBC and ABC. Between the two, they'll bring us the only glimpses of the national pastime we'll see the next six years on network television. It isn't much. There is Tuesday's All-Star Game, a dozen regular-season offerings (primarily Saturdays for ABC, Fridays for NBC) and the postseason, and even that's a Jenny Craig version of what we're used to.
TBN was contrived by major league baseball to salvage what it could out of its network television package. No way a network would approach the $1.06 billion CBS frittered ...
