Kids not only have the whole summer off to look forward to, but they get an extra break in September as well.
Summer vacation will last a little longer this year for most school children because Rosh Hashanah falls on the two days immediately following Labor Day and school districts throughout the Capital Region have decided to delay opening day until after the Jewish holy days.
The United Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York mailed letters last fall to local school districts pointing out the potential conflict.
