NEW YORK-In the fantastic universe of comic books, a revolution is unfolding. Superheroes have entered a new dimension. These muscle-clad icons of male power fantasy have smashed the barriers of convention and entered the realm of ethnic diversity.
This month, comic-buyers nationwide were introduced to Kobalt, a thundering Cuban-American superhero who polices the fictional city of Dakota with an arsenal of vicious weapons. In January, comic book fans met Xombie, a Korean-American superhero who possesses special healing powers and, because his body can re-assemble itself, can't be killed by his enemies.
