As if there wasn't enough to feel guilty about, many people now suffer lawn guilt. The dilemma: Is it possible to combine environmental responsibility with green turf?

It is, but the grass that grows won't be the carpet of old. It will include clover, dandelions, creeping Charlie and violets, bare spots and a brownish tinge during hot, dry weather.

It comes down to what type of lawn a person is willing to accept. Some will continue to weed and feed several times a season. Others will switch to mulching mowers and natural fertilizers.
