ALBANY State Sen. Howard Nolan on Tuesday said he wants former Albany County Social Services Commissioner James McCaffrey to get his job come January.
Nolan, who is retiring, ended weeks of speculation by endorsing McCaffrey in the Democratic primary for the 42nd Senate District, which covers all of Albany County.
``He is a man of great personal character and has done a great job in the past,'' Nolan said of McCaffrey, who works for Catholic Charities. ``I have come to the conclusion that Jim McCaffrey is by head and shoulders the best candidate for the fall election.''
