It's fine with Andrea Lambeth that your dog sits on command, allows a stranger to pet it and reacts calmly if approached by another dog.
But to be accepted into K-9 Friends, your pooch also must allow a stranger to give it an extended hug and hold its tail.
K-9 Friends, affiliated with Therapy Dogs International, is the area's newest group of dogs and their owners who spread cheer to residents in such places as the Home of the Good Shepherd, the Baptist Retirement Center and Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home.
