The sales clerk looked puzzled when I asked for the new CD ``The Three Tenors in Concert/1994.'' ``You've got it in your hands,'' he said.
And indeed, I was holding a CD picturing Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras smiling and waving against a stadium backdrop presumably L.A.'s Dodger Stadium, the site of their second historic joint concert July 16.
But, in fact, what I held was RCA's ``The Essential Three Tenors,'' featuring Pavarotti-Domingo-Carreras arias recorded and released as long ago as 1972 and recently repackaged to look like the new concert CD.
Beware. RCA is not ...
