COHOES Elmer Peat lost his heart two years ago when his wife of 62 years died. On Monday the 84-year-old widower lost all the material things that reminded him of his wife when a fire swept through his two-family home and spread to the house next door.

``I even lost my teeth,'' Peat said, standing in front of 101 Congress St., the charred home his son owns.

In addition to his dentures, hearing aid and two parakeets that his grandchildren had given him for company, Peat also lost all his important papers and the cash he kept in four metal fire boxes. All went up in the mixture of smoke, flames and heat that ...
