His efforts to save last season's "Jackie Thomas Show" failed, but Tom Arnold is a never-say-die sort of guy. Though his reputation largely has been linked to that of his wife -- ABC comedy titan Roseanne -- he's making another bid to establish himself as a solo act with "Tom," his new series that debuts Wednesday on CBS.
Arnold's new character parallels his real-life background to a considerable degree, since he's a working-class Midwesterner desirous of a better life.
