Finally, worms are getting their just desserts. Not to mention their bread crusts and coffee grounds.
Once lowly organisms worth no more than a yuck and a squish, worms are now being lauded as hard-working makers of compost, silent amenders of soil. A Clean Plate Club for the world.
If composting is the buzzword for the '90s, worm composting may take off as a way individuals can make a meaningful -- and relatively easy -- environmental contribution right in their own homes.
