The state Senate is not obligated to make public information about the use of mailing privileges by its members, an appeals court ruled.

In a unanimous decision issued Thursday, the Appellate Division of the state Supreme Court said the state Freedom of Information Law does not include a provision entitling people access to records of mailings made by senators.

The ruling overturned a lower court decision.
