The year 2006 in transplantation may well go down in history as the year the Organ Procurement and Transplantation (OPTN)/United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) Board of Directors began providing effective oversight of its member transplant centers thanks to the aggressive reporting of the Los Angeles Times.
