The United Network for Organ Sharing Board of Directors last week declared Kaiser Permanente-San Francisco Medical Center to be a "Member Not in Good Standing." The decision was based on the discovery and review of actions at the center that inhibited its patient's access to transplantation, resulting in threats to patient health and safety.
The medical center announced in May that it would voluntarily close its kidney transplant program after transferring all candidates previously listed to other active transplant programs. Although more than 250 candidates remain on the center's wait list, the center has assured UNOS that all ...
