To anyone who has had a car stolen and statistics say that it could happen at least once to all of us in our lifetimes there is hardly an experience that is more frustrating.
If the car is not recovered, at best our insurance companies will reimburse us for an amount that won't fully cover the cost of a new car. So it winds up costing us something if not out of pocket, then down the road, in the form of higher insurance payments.
In the battle to thwart car thieves, Ford has debuted as standard equipment on the 1996 Taurus LX, Taurus SHO and Mercury Sable LS models a new antitheft system that could probably be extended later to other Ford cars.
