WASHINGTON Capitalizing on a vacuum in traditional African-American leadership, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan expects to move into the national spotlight with Monday's ``Million Man March.''
For years, Farrakhan, 62, has appeared to be on the fringe, known for his militant black separatist views and his bitter attacks on Jews.
While most whites and many minorities don't know much about him, civil rights leaders say that if he can gather at least 250,000 here for his so-called ``holy day of atonement and reconciliation,'' he will have to be taken seriously as a national leader.
