Your editorial July 30 calling for the tighter regulation of tobacco, because it is ``in its own way, addictive'' is a paradigmatic example of the confused language surrounding recreational drugs, both legal and illegal.
Where does one draw lines with such poorly reasoned arguments? Do we regulate sugar, caffeine, chocolate or aspirin because they are ``in their own way,'' addictive?
