As spring turned to summer, before the horses hit town, which was before he won his Emmy, David Hyde Pierce was able to get back to his hometown of Saratoga Springs.
Besides spending time with his father, George Pierce, he marveled at the restoration of some of the city's stunning Victorian homes and caught up with many of his friends from Saratoga Springs High School. He also signed an autograph on the hat of a Price Chopper clerk when he shopped for groceries.
``I got to see how they grew up, and how they became responsible people,'' Pierce said of his friends.
