High technology already plays some part in American daily life, from automatic teller machines to pay-per-view cable channels. But a study recently released by the Census Bureau has confirmed what African-Americans in the computer industry long have suspected: Many blacks, even those who can afford personal computers, are not embracing them as necessary tools.
This finding, says a New York Times report, has many in the information industry worried that African-Americans may be left out of the electronic loop.
