COLONIE Rex Smith has been named managing editor/news of the Times Union, Executive Editor Jeff Cohen announced Tuesday.
Smith, currently editor of The Record in Troy, succeeds Dan Lynch, who will become a featured columnist in early June.
Smith will oversee the departments covering state, local and business news, as well as the wire services and copy desk. Joann M. Crupi will continue as managing editor/features, responsible for coverage of features, sports and entertainment.
