Byline: TOM PRECIOUS Capitol bureau ALBANY Bringing their budget feud tothe public live and unedited, Gov. George Pataki and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver hit the statewide television airwaves Thursday night seeking to rally public support for their fiscal stands just 30 hours before the start of the new fiscal year.
The unusual approach by Pataki and Silver only served to illustrate how far apart the Republicans and Democrats remain over the budget, which now will be late again for the 11th straight year come Saturday. Just several hours after Pataki and Silver held a private meeting on the budget, the governor lashed out sharply at the speaker.
