In 1966, Jack Kerouac invited a young scholar named Ann Charters to his home in Hyannis, Mass., to help her compile a bibliography of his work.
Nearly 30 years later, Charters vividly recalls the two days she spent with the Beat writer and his mother.
``When I got there, he was generous enough to give me two days of his life. He brought me marvelous books, whatever I asked for articles, magazines, anything. He kept everything,'' says Charters, 58.
