NEW YORK Miramax films may change the Good Friday nationwide release date for its controversial movie ``Priest'' in the face of strong objections from a Catholic group and some theaters.
``We were quite surprised by the strength of the objection,'' Miramax spokesman Mark Gill said Thursday after a Manhattan news conference held by the head of the Catholic League, an independent lay organization.
Gill said several movie chains and at least one theater owner also has objected to the April 14 release date, which coincides with the day Christians commemorate the death of Jesus.
