While New York's 150,000 licensed turkey hunters make final preparations for Monday's opener of the spring turkey hunting season, fishermen prepare for the opening of the pike and walleye season. It opens Saturday, and if these fish are only half as active as they have been these past two weeks, anglers are in for some fantastic fishing.
Fishing for northern pike, walleye or pickerel has always been a challenge. They hit hard, fight like the devil, and depending on how they are cooked, taste great.
