HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. We all remember the catchy jingle.
``It's Slinky, it's Slinky. Oh what a wonderful toy. It's Slinky, it's Slinky, fun for a girl and a boy.''
There's really only one way to explain the classic popularity of the wiry coil that, with a gentle tap, seems to ``walk'' down the stairs on its own.
``I think really it's the simplicity of it,'' said Betty James, 77, whose husband, Richard, invented the Slinky. ``There's nothing to wind up; it doesn't take batteries. I think also the price helps. More children can play with it than a $40 or $60 toy.''
