As The Detroit Medical Center Inc. moves closer to a much-needed insurance alliance, it may be moving further away from a core of doctors vital to its success.
The failure to inform doctors about talks with Select-Care Inc., coupled with the resignation of Sheldon Freilich, president of a physician-hospital organization called DMC Care, has upset private practice doctors.
The doctors are needed to admit their patients into the seven medical-center hospitals: Children's Hospital of Michigan, Detroit Receiving, Grace, Harper, Huron Valley, Hutzel and Rehabilitation Institute.
