LONDON He was the malodorous tramp in Harold Pinter's ``The Caretaker,'' the doctor in the ``Halloween'' slasher movies, the villain Blofeld who battled James Bond.
Donald Pleasence, who made memorable a wide variety of odd, sinister characters, died Thursday at the age of 75.
His agent Tessa Sutherland said Pleasence, who had a heart valve operation in December, died at home in the southern French town of St. Paul de Vence.
``It was very unexpected. We talked to him last night and he seemed well,'' Ms. Sutherland said. She did not know the cause of death.
