DEAR HELOISE: You mentioned in your column wanting a way to tell a fax number from a regular phone number.
When faxes were rather new, several times I saw an equal sign used rather than a dash between the last two number groups. It has failed to catch on. Maybe if you mention it, others will begin to use this easily recognized fax symbol. -- M. Thomson, Springfield, Mo. DEAR M. THOMSON: Thanks for your fax.
