Of the several ``Nutcrackers'' being performed in the Capital Region this season, only one features the music of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky performed live.

That is the collaborative artistic frisson by David Otto's Capital Ballet Company and the Albany Symphony Orchestra as conducted by David Alan Miller, which will offer three performances this weekend.

Every single note that Tchaikovsky wrote for his Christmas ballet ``The Nutcracker'' will be performed as 139 dancers -- including 80 local children and New York City Ballet stars Wendy Whelen and Nilas Martins -- perform the ballet on stage.
