NEW YORK -- Many of the coach seats from rows 17 to 28 on the right side of Trans World Airlines Flight 800 are still missing, although salvage workers have recovered seats from every other area of the passenger cabin, strongly suggesting to investigators that the explosion on board took place there.
For the past week, investigators have been directing most of their attention to the passenger cabin over the plane's wings and the area just forward of there, and Tuesday's disclosure that many seats in that section have not been found adds more weight to the growing view that the explosion that destroyed the Boeing 747 occurred in ...
