LIMA -- Peru's Securities and Exchange Commission disqualified private investor Rafael Vizcarra from bidding for former sugar cooperative Central Azucarera Chucarapi Pampa Blanca SA.
A second bidder, Luis Ricketts, was given 10 days to come up with a bank guarantee for his offer or withdraw from the bidding.
The SEC's decision may clear the way for a bid from dairy and cement group, Grupo Gloria, said Enrique Dibos, deputy manager of Banco Wiese's investment banking unit, which is looking for potential buyers for the sugar company.
