GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Bob Dole on Thursday accused the Clinton campaign of ``character assassination'' for its television ads criticizing Dole.

``I guess they can't run a positive ad,'' Dole responded when a reporter remarked that he seemed upset by the Clinton campaign ads.

``Character assassination,'' Dole replied, his voice an octave higher than usual. ``They don't have anything positive to say.''
