You're a good man, Charlie Brown, but your network is a bit of a fink.

CBS has been promoting tonight's airing of ``A Charlie Brown Christmas'' (8 p.m. on WRGB, Ch. 6) with promises of ``the original uncut version'' (in a TV Guide ad) and ``scenes you haven't seen in years'' (in network promotions).

Over the years the annual special, which first aired Dec. 9, 1965, has been trimmed to make way for more commercials by ``dropping frames,'' according to a CBS spokesperson. Fewer frames meant less time for Charlie Brown and more time for commercials.
