CHICAGO -- It's neither ping (the sound of a rubber paddle hitting a 2.5-gram celluloid ball) nor pong (when the ball bounces off a wooden table).
It is table tennis, and to Ted Friedman, 75, the slam-bang guru of Skokie's Weber Table Tennis Club, the words have equal weight.
``Table! Tennis!'' Friedman shouts, banging away at a sphere, putting the sport right up there with all other tennis, notably lawn and clay-court.
