By cutting deals for channel space with a group of educational organizations, Cross Country Wireless Inc. asserted that it controls the wireless market in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles-based Cross Country, which owns and operates a 42,000-subscriber wireless system in Riverside, Calif., announced that it has lease agreements for 30 channels.

The deals represent 22 channels from a transmission tower serving half of the Los Angeles market and eight from a tower serving the rest of the market.
