The Golf Channel appears to be back on course with the announcement last week that it signed Continental Cablevision Inc., Comcast Corp., Times Mirror Cable Television, Cablevision Industries Inc., Newhouse Broadcasting Co. and Adelphia Communications as investing partners.
With those companies on-line, the Golf Channel more than hit its goal of raising $60 million in startup costs, according to president and CEO Joseph Gibbs. The partners also ensure some type of subscriber commitment -- although the figure is uncertain -- when the service rolls out in January 1995.
