ROTTERDAM -- It was the type of game where neither team could get into a flow. But that turned out just fine for the Academy of Holy Names.
Using its superior strength, speed, athleticism and experience, Holy Names eked out a 1-0 victory over Colonial Council foe Schalmont Friday night to successfully defend its Section II Class B crown at Mohonasen High School.
Gabriele Doemel's goal, with 12:46 remaining in the first half, was all the offense Holy Names would need as it raised its mark to 17-1-1 this season. Christine Iseman assisted on the goal.
