Jan. 7--It's Friday night and all is dark on the strip of East Main Street in Bridgeport, where the ripping sound of the 18-wheelers on Interstate 95 is constant. Dark, that is, except for a flood of light from the brightly illuminated windows of the Bayamon Social Club, just across the street from the Oasis de Paz church. Inside the club, one of many members-only Hispanic clubs in the city, life pulses to the infectious beat of salsa music.
