Jan. 8--Vending machines have come a long way from selling Cokes, smokes, candy bars and newspapers. Today, consumers can scoop everything from mini vibrators to Mp3 players from machines with robotic arms, credit-card scanners and touch-screen technology. In Connecticut, the latest in self-service retail is at Macy's department store in Westfarms mall. A machine that dispenses iPods and accessories stands just inside the upper entrance to the women's section. Macy's had the vending machines installed this fall at 180 locations throughout the country. "We feel that electronics, especially the iPod, is a hot, most-wanted item," ...
