City Councilman John Crawford has been called a lot of things since he announced the proposed smoking ordinance that will be the focus of Tuesday's public hearing, but the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society are calling him right.
The two agencies have sponsored a radio ad campaign to inform residents about the dangers of smoking and Crawford's ordinance. The first commercial could run as early as Tuesday morning, said Sam Denton, community advocacy director of the American Heart Association.
