The annual January day of reckoning has arrived for Goose Gossage, though this time, it's unlike any of the preceding ones.
Results of the Baseball Hall of Fame voting will be announced at noon MST. If Gossage falls short of election for the eighth straight year, he'll exhale figuratively like never before.
"My mom (Susanne) just died in September," Gossage said Monday. "I guess any urgency on my part was always due to her. She was 92, and I knew she wasn't going to be around very long. She always wanted me to go in. If I was going to go into the Hall, she would've loved to have been there."
