ALBANY -- Gov. George Pataki joined families of crime victims Tuesday at the state's new memorial for victims to push for tougher laws aimed at violent criminals.
``We must never forget that violent crime is a product of society's willingness to tolerate it. We must pass new laws to keep violent criminals where they belong -- in prison,'' Pataki said.
Pataki pushed for adoption of what he and others have dubbed ``Jenna's Law,'' legislation that would end parole for first-time violent felons and require stiffer sentences.
