Jan. 9--OCEANSIDE -- The hilly, 71-acre golf course in Oceanside currently under consideration as a new home stadium for the San Diego Chargers is a mixed-use area tightly ringed by a freeway, parkland, commercial businesses, apartments and single family homes.

Oceanside city officials said last week they are talking with the San Diego Chargers about the possibility of building a stadium on a hill above Oceanside Boulevard at Interstate 5 that has been the home of the Center City Golf Course since 1953.
